London trip
More from our London trip.
Our weekend in London
Dear Pete- you will be missed by so many...... I only had the privilege to know you for a short time , and being in Texas made it difficult to see yall, but it was a blast when we did!
To my dearest friend Pete. You may not be with us but you will be in our hearts and memories forever. As Claire and I stood on the deck of the Aurora listening to the military band, you came over to where we were standing and asked "Do you think they are Royal Marines" and that's where it all started.
I knew from the conversations that ensued, that we were like minded people, made each other laugh and had similar views on everything we cared to talk about. Our friendship developed throughout the cruise and we spent so many happy hours together both on and off the ship. A friendship which will remain unbreakable, whatever the circumstances and wherever we may be.
Wherever we have been and whoever we have bumped into whether on holiday, in Meltham or when you and Clare have visited us in Lincoln, you have always managed to make people laugh and smile even if they didn't want to talk to us!!! Its just that you have a natural ability to lighten the mood and turn bad days into good.
When we were together, I think it is fair to say we acted like a couple of school children a lot of the time which sometimes got us into trouble with Clare and Claire. Especially the night out in Huddersfield when we thought it would be a good idea to go 'clubbing after a marathon session in Weatherspoons, much to the annoyance of our wives!!!
You also taught me a new word on one of the visits to your local club for a game of bingo. As I was half way through drinking the first pint, you asked me if I would mind if you got a 'Tweener'. "What's a Tweener" I asked naively. "Its another beer whilst you finish yours" came the reply!
Then there's the time we sat in the pub on Steep Hill in Lincoln and you were telling us the tale of the double glazing issue with the town planners. We had heard the story several times and Clare and I burst out laughing, much to your annoyance! I dare not mention the time we nearly got thrown out of the Thai restaurant, perhaps I'll save that until we meet again.
So my dearest friend Pete, I will miss you terribly, I will miss those precious times of fun and laughter and putting the world to rights. I am proud and indeed privileged to have known you. Rest in peace my dear friend, our love and friendship will last forever. So its goodbye for now but not farewell as I know we will meet again.
Nigel
Look out London!!
Look out London!!
Happy times
Happy memories
Dear Pete, we can't believe that you have left us so soon. We first met you in 2013 and quickly became firm friends. We were privileged to be invited to the renewal of your wedding vows with Clare while on board the Aurora. Afterwards we met up with you when we could and loved seeing you both here in Lincoln and Meltham. We enjoyed our annual reunions with the rest of our 'cruise gang' and were so looking forward to seeing you at the next one this year. We always had such fun (and a drink or two!!) when we met up with you and Clare. You clearly loved life and enjoyed every day and your travels. We are so glad we met by chance. Who is going to tell me I look a million dollars (green and wrinkly) now We are so pleased we had that last mad hilarious face time call with you and Clare in May. R.I.P. dear funny, kind, generous, irreplaceable Pete, you'll always be in our hearts xxx
Peter loved life and lived it to the full. He loved Clare and his country, which he was proud to have served. He will leave a big space in the lives of all that knew him. RIP Peter and we like to think you are waiting for us all with the drinks in
We only met you and Clare in Cuba 3 years ago, briefly for 2 weeks, but the impact of your sense of humour, friendship and kindness, was never to be forgotten, and thus, we have followed you all the way through your final journey with Clare, through facebook. I know, and am so pleased, that, you have had such a wonderful lifetime with Clare at your side, who I know will miss you endlessly. Bless you, and all your family.
Good night soldier see you on the other side.
We still can't believe this tragedy,we hoped that it was a nightmare when we had the news..Pete was the kind of guy that brings laughter, fun and joy around him when he comes around..If you're having a bad day,he's the man to fix your mood & your day..May you shine bright like a diamond in the sky my friend and watch upon your beloved ones..May god shower his blessings on that exceptional person Pete was..Till we meet again,Rest in peace my friend..
Pete was an absolute joy to be around, funny, witty and bright. No one can fill the void he leaves behind. He enjoyed life to the full, a true gentleman and will be greatly missed by many xxx

Grandad, I cant believe Im writing this and you've been taken from us so soon! I already miss you so much, I keep waiting for an email from you to drop into my inbox or a WhatsApp message! I looked forward to those so much, hearing about all the great things youd been up to and had planned, giving me wise words of advice and making me laugh with your great sense of honour. I feel robbed of the many memories we were yet to make, this just isnt fair. Im so grateful for the memories we did make and Ill treasure them forever. Ill make sure Rosie grows up knowing about her GGD Pete and how you felt her move in my belly, one of the memories Ill treasure! Rest in peace GD Pete! I love you xxxx
Peter always chose his words carefully definitely said it how it was. He was really good company both playing golf with him and in the bar after. You could always rely on him to keep the conversation going providing the banter along the way. Pete, I am still sorry I made you pay for the expensive drinks in Shanghai - you never let me forget it. Miss you already, things won't be the same without you.
We had the pleasure of spending many enjoyable and fun times with Pete during our 8 years in flat 4 at Meltham Hall. Special memories of a wonderful man and a dear friend. Sending our love to Clare .Nev and Cheryl x
What a gentleman, always had time for a chat. Sincere condolences to Clare. Callys Mum.x
I'm sad beyond the words to express it. Pete, you were a great man: full of life, told it like it was, endlessly generous, full of love. I didn't see you often, but that didn't seem to matter: spending time with you was simply one of the best things ever - and I know how much you made Clare happy - and she, you. You were the kind of couple who gave me faith in what a relationship can be. I am so, so thankful I got to see you both in December. My love to you as you take the next part of your journey, and my love to Clare and your family as they take theirs xxxxxx
Will miss you Pete!
You grumpy old git ( as I used to call you) although you was a lovely man and only grumpy sometimes!!
Fly high, we will look after Clare for you Xx
Such a genuinely lovely gent. Loving, caring and very funny. I feel blessed to have known you Pete. Loved and missed by so many xx
My precious Dad. This was our first photo together. I will miss you beyond words. You messaged me almost every day telling me about all your antics! You were a giant personality with an equally giant heart. We feel cheated of so many memories still yet to come. We had some great times with you and Clare. You showed me so much love Dad and support, the space you have left in my heart can never be filled. I will overwhelmingly miss you forever. I know you will be looking down on us from heaven. Shine bright Dad because your light here was the brightest it could have been. I will love and remember you for the rest of my days. Your daughter Debbie xxxxx

A grandad I only met a handful of times. He helped me through a lot and was such a lovely man. He will be missed dearly by all of us. RIP
As a fellow Army Veteran, I can honestly say that you were a true gentleman who would do anything for anybody who you classified as a friend. Nothing was too much in your eyes.
You were the life and sole of the pictured Riff Raff team when the 6 of us got together on last years Arcadia World Cruise. and our subsequent get together and the constant messaging.
Like a true Yorkshireman, you called a spade a spade and didnt suffer fools lightly.
You & Clare were ideally suited together and were the reason you obviously have such a strong following, as can be seen from the tributes and messages that have been received since the day you were unfairly taken from us and passed to another world..
RIP my friend and take care until we meet again.
IWords cannot express how I'm feeling. I will go to my grave loving you!
Such a fun loving bloke, definitely will be missed. I so wish I'd bought that bag of empty cans from him lol.. RIP Pete xxxxx
Out thoughts are with you and all the family
He will be missed by many such a big personality and never a dull moment around him
I have so many great memories of Pete, from his wonderful cooking (including his version of the Full English), to his great sense of fun, to his generosity and most particularly to the obvious devotion to my sister. He made two visits here to Canada and embraced every adventure we had on offer. He went boating, flying over the coast in a small plane and most recently horse back riding. I never thought he'd get back on that horse the second day, but he did and I have the photos to prove it! I will really, really miss him.
Were gonna miss you, silly old bugger. Fantastic memories made. You may have left us all but you certainly wont be forgotten.
