I knew Cav very well when I was at Northolt, a true legend who will be greatly missed. I am sorry I had only just heard. My condolences to all the family
️
From infants, through juniors, secondary and beyond to Latics away days it has been a privilege to know Mario. Always smiling and staying positive through life's ups and downs, leaving a great impression on everybody he met (my children often asked about Mario after only briefly meeting him).
Rest in Peace Mario. You will never be far from my thoughts.
Thoughts go out to all your family and friends at this sad time! You were our 'sprog' at Brize and then joined me at Bruggen! Great times! Will raise a glass of German beer for you tonight! Was a pleasure to know you Cav! R.I.P
Sending my condolences to Cavs family in this sad time. I didnt know Cav well but I Knew him well enough to know he was a great guy. RIP Cav
Happiness is..... catching up with an old friend and thinking nothing has changed. Remembering happy times on the saddest of days. Love you mate x
Sleep well Cav. Thank you for 18 years of friendship. Will miss you. x
Cav,
That you, such an amazing person, have been taken so soon from your family, loved ones and friends is truly a tragedy.
We last worked together in Afghanistan in 2011 when you were still in uniform and through your uncanny ability to make sh*t happen, you managed to get the Passenger Handling Facility moved ahead of schedule to a new location on the other side of the airfield. The following week a rocket attack saw one of the missiles go through the roof of the old facility on what would have been a busy night packed with passengers and staff. I remember you shrugging off the praise from the Chain of Command as if it was nothing, you were just doing your job...heroically in this case, just like the amazing fight you have put in over the last few years.
Gone but never forgotten buddy. Matt x
Just by being yourself you had such a positive impact on my life. Knowing you for nearly 30 years has been an honour. So many good times, I will always miss you pal. Steedy
Tomorrow my love, we say goodbye but not farewell. You are my everything, my reason for living. I don't know how I will get through the day, but I know you will be by my side, holding my hand and my heart ️

Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean Ill miss you,
Until we meet again."

I feel sad that I never really met you Mario but through Traceys words I feel I knew an incredibly special man and one who was so deeply loved.
You are now in another very special place with only the best, the most deeply loved, special people
We served together over many years, the last was the last time I saw you, at Northolt. I don't think we parted on what could be classed as good terms, I was going through some stuff & I took it out on those around me... Hindsight is a marvellous gift. I wish we had seen each other one more time at least. All the best
So many tours together, so much fun, so many good times, but more importantly you were there for me during my greatest time of need. You gave me strength, hope and love during the darkest of days. I will forever be in your debt.
God bless you pal and I have no doubt that one day we will meet again.
Per ardua ad astra
Mate, I am going to miss you so very much and I know my life is all the better for you being in it. You will always be in my thoughts xx
Our friendship was brief Mario and largely limited to Boundary Park and Oldham Athleric but it was obvious you were a very special person loved by all who knew you. You made an impact on this world and it's a poorer place without you.
Its been over a week now since we found out my old friend Cav passed away and I still cant believe hes gone. 30 years ago this year we walked through the gates of RAF Swinderby, we went through basic and trade training together, shared a couple of postings together and he even joined me for my dining out of the RAF back in 2012, I couldnt of been prouder to have him there, not only as a friend but also as a colleague who I tried to emulate, a consumate professional, who always put others first, and would always help if he could even if it was just a pint and a chat in the mess, he always made you feel better. I am so glad that I managed to see him on my UK visit last year and introduce my daughter Tipper to her Uncle Cav! We miss you pal, but youll always have a place in our hearts!
I still can't believe that you have gone to the big guy in heaven Mario, I always enjoyed talking to you at latics and the odd away game too, I am sure your telling him about latics. You were a real fighter and always happy despite the illness. Latics won't be the same without you my good friend x. My deepest condolences to your family and friends and all who had the privilege to know you. Rest in peace my dear friend xx
Sorry your gone pal.
My love for you will never die ️
️❤️❤️❤️
Rest easy Mario.. ....one of our Royton and Crompton boys️ ️ Love and strength to all your loved ones
This picture was taken in 1992 when Cav and some of the other lads from Brize Norton came to the opening day of mine and my wife's Doctor Who shop in East Ham. The lady in the front, holding the dog is the actress, Debbie Watling, who opened the shop for us.
Hello Tracey, sorry very sorry to hear the news about Cav. We were all hoping for a miracle. This picture was taken at the Red Lion in Alvescot in 1991 at Raz Berry's leaving do. I first met Cav when he was posted onto my team at Brize Norton during the first Gulf War. I asked him to keep an eye on one of our reservists as he wasn't the brightest spark in the box. This guy asked Cav, ' Why does Doc keep explaining things to me really slowly' and Cav sais, 'Well you're not exactly all there, are you'
One of lifes true gentlemen! Thoughts to all of his friends and family
Cav, you were in Kabul for my first Op det. You took me under your wing and looked after me, not only because you were my Cpl but more because you were a decent bloke. I learnt a lot from you there, including how to tip a herc on its tail and smuggle beers back to camp on a dry det and sharing them with the RSM to get out of trouble! Again, you looked after me and Gayle when we came out to Germany. I'll always be in your debt. Rgds Disco.
You took me to my first ever football match nearly 20 years ago and even cheered on my team! You brought humour and warmth wherever you went. A true gentleman and you fought harder than seemed possible. My thoughts are with Tracy and your family, Rest in peace my friend. Xxx
Thank you for being the best friend to my dad and support to my mum despite everything you were going through yourself. You will be remembered in our family forever Cav xx
Perfect ️
Our paths crossed all but briefly in Germany in the RAF. Personally for me the best time of my life, and thats because you were a part of that. The laughs, the jokes, the great times, but the work still got done professionally. You gave me good advice and were instrumental in furthering my career. I'll always thank you for that. Sad to see you go.
We werent lucky enough to know you for long but saw how happy you were with Tracey and what a lovely couple you made. Taken far too soon ️
So sad that you lost your brave fight Cav. You showed amazing guts and spirit throughout.
I shared some fantastic times with you in work and out and I'll miss the footy banter.
Rest in peace buddy, come on you Latics!!
"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." - Dr Seuss ️❤️

Such a lovely, lovely guy. A great friend who will be forever missed. Time in your company was always a highlight for me. So sad to hear you lost your fight. Rest in peace, my funky brother.
Cav, I shall miss meeting up with you at the Footy and Prince related Gigs. We shared some good times together and you never stopped smiling.
We are gathered here today to get through this thing called life, electric word Life, it means forever and thats a mighty long time!
Until we meet again mate, every time I listen to Prince I will think of you, so that will be everyday.
RIEP Cav, all my thoughts are with your family during this time. Tiny xxx
A truly one of a kind man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Many happy memories to look back on about the only man I've ever met who loved PRINCE more than I do.
Cav, you were the last Sgt I had in the RAF, it was a pleasure serving with you. Sleep easy pal, sending my thoughts and prayers to your family.
When God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
He put his arms around you
And whispered come to me
He didnt like what you went through
And he gave you rest
His garden must be beautiful
He only takes the best
And when we saw you sleeping
So peaceful and free from pain
We wouldnt wish you back
To suffer that again
Today we say goodbye
And as you take your final rest
That garden must be beautiful
Because you are one of the best.
